This is my first Explorer sport. I love the style on the outside, and the interior is nice, and is exactly the same since the 95 model in a lot of ways. the only thing i dont like is the handles in the interior, the paint chips off of the handles.

I love this vehicle! Bought it with 77,000 miles on it in 2006. In 2009 I have 204595 miles on it and it drives like its brand new. I do a lot of driving daily for my job and it has been nothing but dependable. However its noisy. If you dont replace shocks with good shocks it will hit every bump in the road but as long as you keep the maintenance up on it you will have few major issues with this vehicle. I feel that I have gotten more than my moneys worth and I will drive it until it wont go anymore. A great vehicle for the price. You can haul heavy people and items and this truck holds its maximum power.

  • Another Inpulse Buy Here... - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

Well I bought this truck because honestly it looked great and I felt that I was getting a great deal for it. Its been consistent that every year I had to put in about $1k to get it passed inspection. I have had so many problems with this thing. Those sensors seem to go at the worse time and each convienently costs about 100 dollars to replace. I seem to find problems that even a Ford dealership has problems fixing. Now my car needs heavy negotiation with the gas pedal to start up cold. Ive already spent 800 dollars at the dealership to get it resolved. They say its fixed, but the very next day I have the same problem.

This is the second Sport I have owned, I absolutely love it, no comparison to the Blazer, quality of vehicle is outstanding

  • Bad first impression - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport

This is the first and last Ford SUV I will own. The poor quality of the vehicle was magnified by the uncooperative and unhelpful dealership. The vehicle handles poorly in moderate winter conditions and fuel economy has decreased significantly over the last year. The vehicle was never driven off road and is well maintained;however that did not help prevent having to replace both front ball joints, rear wiper, and rear bumper (due to rust) to name a few problems. I have owned this vehicle slightly over a year and now want to rid of it.

Edmunds thinks this vehicle is a little long in the tooth, but for me that means reliability. The drive train has been around for over ten years, so we think well have few problems. This is our second Explorer Sport, and we love it. Im 62" and Im comfortable driving it. My wife likes the conveniences of an SUV. Yeah the fuel economy could be better, but you dont buy an SUV for fuel econmy.

  • EXPLORER SPORT - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

Traded in a Nissan Pathfinder and gave a US brand another chance. Im extremely happy with my purchase of a 2001 Explorer Sport. I love the PM schedule versus the Pathfinder, which had costly PMs every 30k. Its fun to drive and the upgraded interior adds comfort. Job well done FORD.

  • Cant WAIT to trade it in! - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport

I bought the 2002 Exporer Sport after driving a Civic. While at the time, I thought I was upgrading, I soon came to regret my decision. The suspension is my main complaint. The ride is SO bumpy and the back will sway and shift if you hit a pot hole or large bump. Also, you can get blown around on the road if its windy. Like any SUV, the fuel economy is awful. I do love the factory stereo, though, and the A/C blows very cold. I have not had any performance problems, and it runs excellent. I cant wait to get rid of it, though, and get something safer and more fuel efficient.
